New for 2022, this new and exciting event will have a challenging mix of trails and road around the beautiful Hepworth area.

We will be organising official recce events prior the event itself for you to familiarise yourself with the course.

Parking and toilets will be available at Race HQ. There will also be a bar and food available afterwards.

Just for year one, we reserve the right to move the race HQ and even change the route for this new event, although the date will not change.

The Course

This route involves a mix of steep grassy climbs on footpaths, bridleway and quiet country lanes. We’ve picked out the best of the local paths … and it just so happens there are some hills too. Funny that! You can find the Strava route here. There is a full course description below.

Numbers and Timing

Please collect your number on race day. We use live chip timing and instant results.

Age Requirements

All runners must be aged 18 or older on the day of the event.

Parking

All parking for this event is at Race HQ. Limited parking is available at the club, please car share if possible and if parking on local roads please have consideration for residents and do not block access.

Full Course Description

Starting and finishing in the village of Hepworth this race combines a mix of surfaces and gradients to make it a challenge worthy of inclusion in the Summer Wine Trail series.

The race starts with a lap of the field at Hepworth FC before descending to Towngate in the village via a bridleway. It then continues downhill on tarmac descending Butt Lane before turning right to run alongside the stream through the woods. Back to the road and the first climb starts, up Barnside Lane until you reach the hamlet of Barnside where a sharp right hand turn takes you onto the grass and up the steep side of Cote Hill. At the top you turn right to enjoy fabulous views of the Holme Valley, Cheesegate Nab and Castle Hill where you descend the path to Ox Lee.

The mixed surface of Ox Lee Lane leads you back to the road where you join Cowcliff Hill Road and then Upper House Road for a short while before once again turning right onto the track and footpath across Upper House Dike bringing you back out onto Cowcliff Hill Road. A short uphill takes you to the left turn, bringing you a fast downhill across the fields where you turn right back to the football club and the finish for a well deserved beer from the bar.
