All runners enter the race at their own risk. No person or organisation shall be held responsible for any accident, injury or loss to themselves prior to, during or after the event. Runners must abide by all the rules of the event and the rules of the Association of Running Clubs.
To be eligible for series you must complete four races. Points are based on your position, and the runner with the lowest number of points wins.
NB Points earned in the Holme Valley Trail Half Marathon will be worth double (as there are usually less than half the number of runners in this event.
Please see The Series page for more information.
Groups are for groups of friends who would like to enter together. Come along with friends – we’d love to have you. Groups are not competitive teams and do not relate to Running Clubs or Teams at our Five Miler event.
We are undecided yet whether these will be displayed in our results tables.
We have special offers for Running Clubs. We offer club discounts and reserved place. There are full details on this page.
All separate races will be awarded prizes (based on GUN time not chip time) as follows:
All prizes will be awarded on the prize giving on the day. Unclaimed prizes will not be presented apart from 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions. If you can’t stay, please ask someone to collect your prize for you.
NB We will not be awarding vet categories in the Holme Valley Trail Half Marathon as there is a much smaller field of runners. If this changes, we will increase the number of prizes.
We are not able to offer refunds but we do understand things sometimes change for our runners, so here’s how we try to help…

Summer Wine Trails was founded by Jon Burdon and Andy Brentley in 2014 as a fundraising group from local schools and churches. It’s aim is to provide runners with great racing experiences and also give back to local causes which are often run by very small groups in the community. For example Holme School has less than 40 pupils.
Jon also worked with Matt until 2021 and they still work in close partnership.
In September 2021 Summer Wine Trails Ltd was formed as a limited company in order to safeguard the financial future of the organisation and move towards applying for more funding and sponsorship. The company is not for profit and is run by volunteers for the benefit of the community.
We aim to run the events at a high professional standard and deliver an outstanding experience to all our runners. We welcome any feedback and will always listen and help resolve any problem you may experience.
It’s always been a team effort at SWT – we’d love to have you as a volunteer.
